I have been in Los Angeles to see the LA Times Travel Show, one of the largest in the US. I expected to see stalls promoting parts of California, the Caribbean and Asia but Wales?

If I Had £113 Million

Almost the standard question quiz or lottery winners get asked is what they would do with the money. And the usual answer is that they would take a holiday. But what sort of holiday can you take if you were the lucky British winner of the £113 million Eurolottery draw that was held on Friday night?
As of writing the person or syndicate hasn’t come forward. Maybe they are still in shock. Maybe they are still unaware that it’s them. The only thing I am sure of is that it isn’t me. Nor my wife (although she was looking at handbags on the internet last night).

Skomer Marine Nature Reserve.

This year is the 20th anniversary of Skomer becoming a marine nature reserve back in 1980. Twenty years on, it is still the only reserve of its type in Wales despite the fact that many other places, Ramsay and Bardsey for example, probably should have similar status.
It means that the tourists who go out and sail around the island or for those privileged few who can visit the island in from April to the end of October (maximum 250 per day) see a greater selection of wildlife and flora than were there twenty years ago. Some can even stay in the farm complex but are limited to 16 per night. So what brings visitors to Skomer and what has been the effect of declaring it a marine nature reserve?
