Slovenia is the latest country to announce that more Brits are visiting than ever before. For the first six months of this year, visiting Brits are up by almost a quarter. Now we are their fourth biggest market after Italy, Germany and Austria. So why are we going there? Numbers would have been inflated by the Slovenia vs England UEFA Qualifying football match in Ljubljana but having new flight connections between Southend and Maribor has helped make it easier for those in East Anglia to get there.

Tim Vine and a Holiday

At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, there are apparently 880-900 comedy shows. The number of jokes in all material must be difficult to count especially since there are some of the fastest tellers of joke who pack hundreds into each performance.
The winner of this year’s award for the funniest joke has gone to Tim Vine. And it’s a holiday joke so I thought I’d reproduce it here.

There was a lot of comment earlier that this year that a lot of people would stay at home and have day trips.
This seems to be happening so certain places seem to be doing well as we visit them. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that historic houses on the eastern side of the country are doing well and now there is evidence that two other attractions are doing well.
