Both ScotRail and Arriva Trains Wales have announced the return of the popular Club 55 promotion. ScotRail’s began on the 3rd of September and will run until the end of November and Arriva’s began on the 2nd of September and continues until December 9th.

Just over a week ago, Arriva Trains Wales reintroduced their Club 55 deal. From today (17th January) another railway company has re-introduced the Club 55 deals for 6 weeks. This time it is just ScotRail not the whole of the First Group. The offer is open up to and including 31st March. Arriva’s is open until 9th April

It’s a funny old world! Yes an old cliché to start an article but the last week has seen the best and the worst of the rail industry.
On the positive side, positive to over 55 year olds at least, we have seen the launch of another promotion by the First Group of their popular discounts. For £15, you can have return 2nd class (alright, standard class travel for purists) in any one zone. Seeing that one of the zones runs from Manchester to Penzance, this can be terrific value for money. Even better is that you don’t have to book up in advance.
