Restore your balance

This is the strapline of the new promotion by Visit Jersey.

a cliff walk in Guernsey. This new promotions emphasises outdoor opportunities

The new marketing campaign is designed to raise awareness of the destination’s different attractions and to encourage us to visit it at any time during the year.

Above all, the campaign is to try and urge you to congregate with family after the lockdowns and to enjoy all the sights and sounds that the island has to offer.

Like many places, Guernsey is currently in lockdown meaning no travel for those of us that aren’t residents of the island except in the most compelling of circumstances.

But Guernsey was the place in the British Isles to be declared coronavirus free and that surely will have an impact on the feelings of potential travellers.

So why launch this campaign now? Why not wait until we have dates when we can travel again?

That is a problem all destinations face. To leave a promotion until close to an opening date means that people may book to go elsewhere. Visit Guernsey must have decided that it is better to get the message out now that the island is the place to visit.

The promotion will focus on nature, adventure, family and heritage, which, the tourist board thinks, should help to restore visitors’ balance and sense of wellbeing after what has been a difficult year.

In addition there is a strong message that the fresh air of the island, the beaches, the outdoor pursuits and the abundance of fine quality local produce will help to cheer up visitors after the dreary times we have experienced.

Visit Guernsey has briefed the travel trade so you can expect it to be packaging suitable offers for short breaks and longer stays as soon as we are able to travel again.
