I like to get to the beach and try something new.

I last visited Ghent in Belgium and Luxemburg which has to be one of Europe’s greatest discoveries.

Do you know where you’re going this year?
Yes: I will be exploring the south west of England.

Of all the places you’ve been to, what was your favourite and why?
I’d say Tonga: it’s a true tropical paradise and the people are amazing.

Which destination do you wish to travel to, but haven’t yet been?
Without a doubt, it has to be Japan.

In your own country, what would you recommend tourists see that isn’t in the travel guides?
I’d suggest that they enjoy some of New Zealand’s great walks and the new Zealand cycle trail before the masses catch onto these treasures.

How do you plan your holiday? (Guidebooks/website/agent/recommendations etc)
I usually refer to guidebooks and also use go on recommendations from friends, family and industry insiders.

How often do you go away?
As much as I can!

Who do you travel with?
I used to travel with my wife or else friends. However now that we have a young daughter, our travel style has changed.

Thrill seekers will be in seventh heaven in Queenstown

New Zealand

Where do you see tourism in your country, in 10 years?
I sincerely hope it will continue to grow – I think the New Zealand cycle trail is an exciting development but I think its crucially important that the country does everything it can to uphold its clean, green image.
