‘The Biggest Holiday Competition in the World’

Aphrodite Rock, Cyprus

Claimed to be the biggest holiday competition in the world, the Cyprus Tourist Organisation and its two hotel associations have launched a competition lasting 50 weeks. But instead of there being one prize at the end there are fifty. Every week of the competition there is a prize for two people of a seven-night holiday in Cyprus, one of our most popular holiday destinations.

To enter, there is a special website, www.summeriscyprus.com or you can use Facebook.

To win you have to look at a photo of a different hotel (each is either 4 or 5*) which will be featured each week, with an option from three multiple-choice answers. The winning entry will be picked at random once a week, for 50 weeks. The prize offered by each participating hotel, will be a seven-night stay for two people in a sea-view room, including daily breakfast (prize does not include flights).

The competition began on the 8th of November and to re-iterate, it doesn’t include flights but since there are low cost airlines from London and regional airports linking the UK with Cyprus, air fares needn’t be that expensive. You can take your prize at any time up until April 30th 2015 but not during peak periods. If you win, a voucher will be sent to you which will explain when those are.

Given that Cyprus offers pretty much all-year round sunshine, even in the middle of winter you should be assured of some good weather and you will always find Cypriot hospitality and lots to do. For all the rules connected to the almost year-long competition, you’ll find them on the website.

And don’t forget to tell CD-Traveller how the holiday went when you win.
