When a hotel is the attraction

By | Category: Travel rumblings

Yes, this is a hotel!

To stand out in Kissimmee, you have to be brave. After all you have Disneyworld, Universal, Gatorland and other attractions on your doorstop. Plus dozens and dozens of types of accommodation. So how do you stand out from the crowd so that people visit you rather than stay elsewhere?

You can have a waterpark four stories high and your own everglades where guests can watch alligators being fed such as at the Gaylord Palms Resort. It is just about two miles away from the main gates to Disneyworld but for some visitors that is too far away. They want almost immediate access to the fun. After all, that’s why they are holidaying here. So every effort must be made to convince them that your accommodation is worth staying at rather than being at the main gate entrance.

So feeding alligators is not enough. There is also has a winter show which involves a display of hand-carved ice sculptures. The theme of this year’s show is Frosty the Snowman and more than two million pounds of hand-carved ice sculptures bring scenes to life and include four ice slides for adults and children. To create this a team of 40 talented artisans from China will have spent more than a month on it.

The same resort houses the famous DreamWorks Experience which features films such as Shrek, Kung Fu and Madagascar. So is this a hotel or an attraction in itself?
