Now TransPennine’s Club 55 begins

By | Category: Travel news

Hot on the heels of ScotRail’s Club 55 promotion comes that of First TransPennine Express.

Beginning on the 15th of September and running until the16th of November, for £18 return you can travel over a wide part of northern England. Or you can splurge and go first class for £27. You can go into Scotland as far as Edinburgh or Glasgow but the return fare is £28 and £42 if you travel in first.

There are limits on when you can travel but these are easily remembered because it is just not before 9.30 am on weekdays. At the weekend there are no restrictions. The only other thing to remember is that travel must be only on their services, you can’t use any other train operator.

FTPE take you to some of the most attractive holiday destinations such as Blackpool, Scarborough, Cleethorpes and Windermere. Great cities such as Durham, Liverpool, Manchester, York, Leeds, Newcastle and the greatly underrated Hull are all within a traveller’s grasp as well as market towns like Northallerton and Thirsk.

Remember also that although the promotion runs until the 16th of November you only need to have made the outward part of the journey by then. The return part can take place up to a month later meaning you could use this to return on Christmas Eve if you were using it to visit family. There is also no reason why you can’t hitch two of these Club 55 promotions together so you could by a £18 return from Liverpool to Carlisle and then by a ScotRail return from Carlisle to Thurso for £19. For £37 you’ll be able to get much more value for your money.
