It’s been over two years, but Brits continue to be inspired by hit TV show, Downton Abbey, from elbow length gloves and oversized hats, to buttoned-up coats and now, country manors for their Valentine’s getaways.
Since the show first aired in the UK in 2010, online reservation service, hotel.info has seen a marked increase in Downton related searches.
Although set in a fictional Yorkshire country estate, searches for the Lincolnshire market town of Grantham saw the biggest spike overall – showing that Brits are pining for a piece of posh, no matter what the association.
With Valentine’s Day upon us, Brits, it seems, are keen for some post-Edwardian passion, hotel.info has compiled a list of the top 10 country manor-style hotels that have been top of romantic Brits wish lists well in advance of this week’s love-fest.
