By | Category: Travel destinations

GiANTS of CHESTERChester will celebrate the jubilee on Monday (tomorrow) in a slghtly different way. 60 Jubilee GiANTS will parade around the centre of Chester.
Over 60 groups including schools and charities from across Cheshire, Warrington and North Wales have been involved with the community based project.
The carnival is a free event and will start at 11.00am on Monday 4th June at The Cross.
Entertainment on the day will include a number of carnival processions, bands, singers and dancers.
Groups of volunteers are currently busy preparing for the carnival; sculpting and painting GiANT heads, constructing the wooden frameworks and sewing dresses.
The GiANTS have a long history dating right back to the 14th century when most towns had their own individual GiANTS to ward off evil spirits, all of which were born in Chester.
Today the GiANTS are thriving and can be often seen towering over the streets of Chester, they have even been given a Royal approval by Her Majesty Herself.
A small unassuming warehouse based on Sealand Road is the home of Chester The GiANT City and is always open to visitors.
