Jamie Oliver arrives at Gatwick

By | Category: Travel news

Gatwick airport has announced that celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver, will be launching a new restaurant at Gatwick’s North Terminal this summer.

The 5,800 sq ft restaurant – which will be called Jamie Oliver at Gatwick – is part of Gatwick’s £1.2 billion upgrade and will include include a bespoke ‘grab and graze’ Jamie’s Italian Bakery, an antipasti bar, a fresh pasta making area and a Union Jacks Bar.

The new offering from the Naked Chef will inevitably draw comparisons with Gordon Ramsay’s Plane Food at Heathrow’s Terminal 5.

It’s not the first time that the two TV chefs (who are known for their mutual dislike of each other) have gone head to head: Oliver and Ramsay went up against each other when Barbecoa and Bread Street Kitchen both opened earlier this year in London’s £500 million One New Change development.
