The Last Bank Holiday

By | Category: Travel rumblings

Well it’s the last one before Christmas, the last one before nearly four months without a break. This always seems a long time to me so I always arrange an Autumn break to relieve the continuous onset of winter.

But before winter starts there is this one to enjoy..

According to ABTA, 1.9 million of us will be jetting abroad and, according to Visit England, 11.9 million of us will be have a domestic break. So if the figures from the census people released yesterday are accurate and there are 61 million of us living in our countries then about 1 in 5 of us will be making the most of it. Helpfully, for those flying out of Stansted, Manchester and Gatwick, the promised industrial action won’t happen so the only problems will probably be the roads as later today, millions of us start driving. After all the accidents on the M25 this week, for those of us in the south, maybe today and Monday will be quiet and accident free. And for those other black spots, the M6/M5 junction, the M42 and the M62, not all of us will hit the roads at the same time.

Even the weather looks like being reasonable in most places so go out and enjoy it.
