Have holiday brochures had their day?

Tui Travel’s distribution and online director, Nick Longman, has gone on record as saying that travel companies could soon become completely brochure free – as more and more Brits choose and book a trip online, rather than through a glossy brochure.

As you will know by now, the biggest booking time is just after Christmas. If it is mild, bookings tend to drop. If the weather is bad bookings go up. And that seems to be just what has happened this year. Although the snow hit most of us before Christmas, there was still quite heavy snowfall in the north and Scotland afterwards. The first reports seem to suggest that bookings are well up on last year. By 18%. Bad weather makes us think about holidays more.

Kids Pester for Disneyworld

Another survey, another dodgy conclusion.

This one comes from Teletext Holidays, via the travel trade magazine Travel weekly.

This says that when they asked 2000 children aged between 5 and 15 just under a quarter said that Disneyworld was their preferred destination. The next choice was Spain which was way behind with 8%.
