After Gleneagles, it travels to an American destination and this time it is to a place that many younger Brits won’t recognise – Hazeltine National Golf Club which is in Chaska.



Would you travel to Wales?

I ask the question because last week Visit Britain published provisional 2011 figures for international tourism to the UK. It showed that Wales received just 880,000 visitors which is roughly what it was the year before.
So what was the effect of the Ryder Cup being held in Wales?



British Tourism Week Begins

Tourism Week most TV channels that I saw ran the story about the beacons being lit all along Hadrian’s Wall. This virtually signalled (literally as well) the beginning of the week although the official opening is at the Celtic Manor Hotel-site of this years Ryder Cup-today.
There is a lot available to enjoy this coming week, some free, some with a charge. Perhaps the offer by the Despite what I wrote two days about how the British Airways story might damage the start of British National Trust for free entry next weekend is the most appealing as they have properties throughout England and Wales. (For reasons, I don’t understand, Scotland had their British Tourism Week last week although a few events are still to take place.
Throughout the week, we will be highlighting some of the events taking place around the countries.
Let’s start off with one of the great UK holiday destinations,- Blackpool.



Golfing Holidays & the Ryder Cup

If you have been to Wales in the last year or two -or be interested in golf- it is hard to void the fact that the Ryder Cup is coming to the Celtic Manor Resort this coming September. So much has Visit Wales pushed the Ryder Cup possibilities that some people wonder why else you should go there. But after the Cup, people will still play golf and it isn’t only Wales that has courses.
After Homecoming in 2009, Scotland has to decided that it will attract golfers with its Drive it Home promotion.
