Forty years ago, the then Poet Laureate, Sir John Betjeman, made a TV series called Metroland which explored the expansion of London into suburbia. It had a huge impact at the time and part of that is remembered this weekend at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre.

Although the home of the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway is usually well over a hundred miles away in the mountains of North Wales, one of its engines-Princess – sits like an exhibit between platforms 8 and 9 at Paddington.
