Prices rose but may be dropping back

Increases were spotted just after the Thomas Cook collapse. A month on and other companies have moved in to fill the gap. That means prices will stabilise or even go down.

Travelzoo warns us that package holiday prices are likely to rise by at least 10% next year. Even more concerning is that some tour operators believe the increase could be as high as 15% to 20%.

When you buy your holiday do you pay the asking price? Do you shop around first?
The reason I ask is that there is another survey out, this time from Visa, those wonderful credit card people, who claim that from their survey of 1,077 people that 22% of us negotiate on the price and only 11% accepting the first price they are offered.

Thomas Cook runs a Holiday Cost of Living Survey and the results have just been published. It claims that places like Majorca, Cyprus and mainland Spain are still cheaper than the UK.
