By my count there are twenty-one types of coracle or currach in the UK and Ireland. Now is peak season for the regattas and racingn and this Saturday there is the 65th regatta at Cilgerran in north Pembrokeshire.
This was local yet international as people from Australia, the USA, England and even foreigners from Ceredigion attended this annual Cilgerran event.
Adrian finds out that more of us are holidaying abroad this year over last year but still plans to head to Cilgerran for the coracle championships next weekend! OK, he admits it – he lives there – but he’ll still be going for the fun!
Adrian follows the River Teifi linking just two small places – Cilgerran and Cenarth – and finds that it matches and surpasses many over-hyped visitor draws.
