What we do know is that disruption around Heathrow is going to last some time and much longer than many anticipated.

The answer is probably to consider regional flights. The might cost a bit more but it will take the hassle out of being Heathrow snared!
The British government has decided that it will support the building of a third runway at Heathrow.
As the time approaches for the government to decide whether Heathrow or Gatwick is to expand, both airports seem to be cranking up their credentials.
Based on this, if I was a betting man, I’d say that Gatwick was likely to get the nod when a decision is finally made.
How much longer do we all have to put up with claim and counter-claim before the government announces its decision?
He says we will be making a mistake if we don’t let Heathrow expand and thinks a second runway will be built at Gatwick as there is less political fallout. But it is obvious that Heathrow is still the apple of his eye.
This is a not a new disease but an “expert,” Simon Buck, only identified it formerly yesterday afternoon. It is Aviation Consultation Fatigue a particularly virulent disease which is proving almost impossible to eradicate.
Yesterday the CEO of Qatar Airways, Akbar Al Baker, said that the government needed to look at Heathrow’s capacity or there would be a ‘catastrophic situation.’ It was a necessity he said.
Over the last year, airlines, business groups and some politicians (but what do they know?) have been screaming that the UK will sink without trace because we don’t have enough airport capacity in the south east of the country.
