The most affordable holiday resorts

By | Category: Travel destinations

One major factor in deciding a holiday destination is price. Whether you are working to a limited budget or have an urge to splurge, most people have an idea of what they want to spend.

the Costa Dorada – one destination where prices have dropped by 14% compared to last year says TravelSupermarket

Indeed one of the reasons given by holidaymakers for going abroad was that UK destinations are often more expensive than going abroad. That has altered in the last few years but there are still many value-for-money destinations across the channel.

Recent research by the comparison website, TravelSupermarket, as to which are the most affordable holiday resorts are useful for guidance. The list the top ten places as follows;

1.  Costa Brava, Spain (-5% median price reduction, compared with last summer)
2.  Agadir, Morocco (-14% price drop for this summer compared with last on all-inclusive package holiday prices)
3.  Majorca, Balearic Islands, Spain (-14%)
4.  Costa Dorada, Spain (-14%)
5.  Sunny Beach, Bulgaria (-1.5%)
6.  Turkey (Kusadasi and Bodrum and Antalya) (no year on year change)
7.  Costa Blanca, Spain (-12%)
8.  Corfu, Greece (-4%)
9   Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Spain (-8%)
10 Crete, Greece (no year on year price change)

The company claims that that its pricing data research has shown that the price of overseas package holidays from the UK this summer are as much as 36% cheaper than they were this time last year.

But just because one destination is cheaper doesn’t mean that the whole country is. Although five Spanish destinations appear on the list, TUI announced last week that some bookers are moving away from considering a Spanish holiday because of price.

It still pays to shop around.
