This coming weekend sees the Longleat Ski Safari where over 100 hot air balloons will ascend the skies over the Wiltshire countryside.

Now one of the biggest hot air balloon events in Europe, the attraction has become more and more popular. This could be partly due to the fact that it costs no more to enjoy the ballooning that it does to enter Longleat on a normal day.

Running from the 14th-16th, the event is unlike many hot air balloon festivals since, on the Sunday, balloons in the shape of some of the wildlife that you can see at Longleat, take to the air. This year, penguins, a wolf, an owl and Longleat’s very own Lion, Simbaloo – will be inflated. Longleat itself also plans to unveil its newly commissioned hot air balloon during the course of the event As for other dozens and dozens of balloons you will only see their shapes when the are inflated and ready to take to ascend.

Morning flights are scheduled for between 07.30; and early evening flights from around 17.30. There will also be tethered flights, and two spectacular “Night Glows” on the Saturday and Sunday evenings. Annual Pass holders will be invited to attend a special preview event for the sky Safari on September 13. All other visitors will have full access to the event for the following three days without any increase in the normal price of entry to Longleat:
