In the twenty categories of the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards, entrants were reviewed on a number of criteria. For readers of Just about Travel, the key  might be that, regardless of category, each entrant was marked on their commitment to delivering excellent customer service.

Considered by many to be the big three awards in any ceremony, Alton Towers gained the top award as Large Visitor Attraction of the Year and Tamworth Castle collected it in the small visitor category.  Drayton Manor Park added another gong to the colection it has gained over the years with the Best Tourism Experience of the Year for Drayton’s Magical Christmas.

The Borehole in Stone collected the top award as Dog Friendly Business of the Year and the Factory Tour at World of Wedgwood was the Guided Tour of the Year. The Dorothy Clive Garden collected the gold in Sustainable Tourism and the Just So Festival by Wild Rumpus claimed the same in the Inclusive Tourism Award.

In the food section, the Food Retailer of the Year  was Denstone Hall Farm Shop whilst the Orangery Restaurant at the Moat House in Acton Trussell collected two top gongs; that of the Taste of Staffordshire Tourism Award and Restaurant of the Year. The Springslade Lodge in Cannock Chase was Coffee Shop of the Year and The Red Lion in Bradley scooped the Pub of the Year top award.

The Hotel of the Year was Swinfen Hall Hotel which isn’t the first time they’ve walked off with a top gong in these awards. If memory serves, they have now won the top award in three different categories over the years. The top B&B was Amber House B&B in Alrewas and Colton House in Rugeley picked up the Boutique Guest Accommodation of the Year Award.  Secret Cloud House Holidays were considered to be the winner in the Glamping Provider of the Year grouping and Oakland Holiday Park in Brewood picked up the award as Holiday Park of the Year. Finally, Ingestre Lodges won as Self-Catering Holiday Provider of the Year.
