This is the name of the new marketing campaign to persuade us to visit Dubai.

Last year about 1.2 million people travelled to Dubai, an increase of 11% over the preceding year. This year looks good as well but no tourism board can rest on its laurels given that every other destination is trying to attract visitors as well.

The promotion will see Waterloo station in London become a microcosm of some Dubai’s most well-known experiences using technology to let people experience the sights, sounds and attractions of the city. The campaign will feature interactive 360 video gaming, virtual reality displays and optical illusions, which will see ‘mirage’ like characters on the concourse, from skydivers and camels to scuba divers and falconers.

Lasting for nine days the promotion begins this weekend.

In Dubai itself, the annual ‘Eid in Dubai’ celebrations will start in five days’ time and last until 17th of September. The celebrations are always a mix. To use the time-worn phrase, there should be something for everyone.

For those with an interest in music, there are live concerts featuring some very well-known Arab singers such as Rabeh Saqer and Shamma Hamdan on 13 September and Mohamed Abdo on 16 September as well as a performance by Pakistani singer and Sufi maestro Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

For children, there is a Looney Tunes show featuring Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny, (in the Ibn Battuta Mall) fireworks shows (each night from the 11th-16th) and many more family-themed events in the malls across the city. In the Dubai Festival City Mall there is a free interactive Nickelodeon PlayPark which has come to Dubai for the very first time.

But shopping is one of the big draws of Dubai and Eid shoppers can shop till their heart’s content whilst having the opportunity to win prizes up to AED 1.5 million (just over £310,000) in the ‘Shop. Spin & Win’ promotion organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment in collaboration with the Dubai Shopping Malls Group. To enter you have to have spent AED200 which is about £41.

And if you win one of the bigger prizes that will comfortably cover your airfare and you’ll have had a holiday into the bargain
