Highland gatherings may be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of summer in Scotland. And perhaps a little salmon fishing, walking or deer stalking.
There are other things as well such as Thunder in the Glens – the biggest Harley Davidson rally in the UK – which takes place in Aviemore in the Cairngorms National Park, a place normally just associated with the winter skiing season.
Here are just a few of the events happening in the Scottish highlands during the summer.
Durness Highland Gathering, – 24th of July in Lairg.
Stopover Festivals – 31st July until 1st of August in Aviemore. This music festival is held in Rothiemurchas and Mumford and Sons plus Ben Howard are the headline acts.
