France wants to welcome more of us

Flag of FranceDespite the fact that 84.7 million people visited France, they would like more of us to visit them.

So they have designed a million pound campaign which has just begun to try and make France the number one destination for holidaying Brits. They hope to encourage us to visit them in greater numbers than we do to Spain which, given our love affair with the country, is asking a lot. But then more of us have second homes in France than in Spain, we have the advantage of the Channel Tunnel and ferries to get us there and for most of us, it is our closest neighbour.

The four-month campaign will run across press, outdoor, tube, display and social media, will have its own dedicated website, uk.rendezvousenfrance.com and will focus on 37 destinations in France. Using the strapline, “What’s your tour de France,” the first are this week covers the aeronautical and space heritage of Midi-Pyrénées.

There will be weekly blogs on the site with tailored Google Streetview time lapses for each French destination. The time lapses or hyperlapses, take the viewer on a virtual journey through some of the participating destinations. The blogs, published throughout the campaign, will highlight different experiences and activities within each destination from a first-person perspective.

None of the writers who write for Just about Travel are involved in the blogs promoting France.
