Flight 4U 9525

leitwerke-ew-gw-motiv06-eurowings.jpg.img.nonretina.seo.col1Amid the unfolding tragedy of the Germanwings flight which crashed this morning in France, I was unpleasantly surprised to receive an e-mail from AccuWeather telling me that “near the crash site, conditions were partly sunny with generally light winds at the time contact was lost with the plane.”

It followed that information with, “Over the next 12 hours, weather will not be favorable for cleanup and rescue efforts,” and “The weather is going to be deteriorating near the crash site over the next 12 hours as a storm system moves into the region, producing rain and high-elevation snow.”

Am I alone in thinking this press release is crass, unfeeling and totally inappropriate at this time?

Instead we should be sending condolences, not gaining cheap publicity.
