Having the patience to wait.

Think of the time I could save by not queueing to go up the Spanish Steps

I have all the patience in the world, I tell my wife. She doesn’t believe a word of it. She knows my patience amounts to a gnat’s blink.

The sight of a queue deters me from entering; the thought of having to wait and not be doing something would frustrate me.

So the launch of a new website called Wait a Moment which provides peak waiting times would help me decide what and when I should see attractions in the destinations I visit. The website contains a host of time-saving data, including new visitor-flow timetables for busy tourism destinations from the Capitoline Museums in Rome to the Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia.

For example, a peak hours’ timetable for visiting the Vatican City in Rome during the week of November 27 to December 3 shows that postponing going on  Friday 28th at 12pm and altering it to Saturday at 10am, could have saved me up to 2 hours waiting time.

According to Wait a Moment, a three hour queue is commonplace for popular tourist destinations during high season. By letting me know those expected wait times, I could save time for other things. And the website isn’t limited to just this sort of information. As well as visitor-flow timetables, Wait a Moment also has some tips and practical information on a range of tourist sites.

According to the company, Waitamoment.co.uk is a free resource for consumers which aims to reduce frustrating waiting times for accessing customer services, attractions sites and public bodies. Consumers save time while companies, administrations and tourist sites save money by regulating the flow of incoming calls or visitors. The service is currently available in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Brazil, Russia and Turkey.
