Tenerife. This is what most holidaymakers want; a beach and glorious seas
And in May – the latest figures available from the Tenerife Tourism Corporation – did we feel confident! The number of people visiting rose by 14% compared to last year’s figures. Last May the Olympics hadn’t started nor the jubilee celebrations so there was nothing unusual that make these figures seem questionable. So they must show an increasing confidence in travel as well as a satisfaction with Tenerife. No wonder Pia Louw, the head of promotions for the island was “thrilled.” If the year continues like this Tenerife will have a bumper year. The Scottish schools have just broken for the summer and flights over the weekend down to the Canaries were busy – actually, when are they not?
Tenerife is one of those destinations that other destinations envy. It has virtually guaranteed sunshine, beaches and warm seas, hotels for every size of wallet, child and teenage clubs in many hotels, a friendly atmosphere, scenery, food and direct connections from just about every airport in the UK. And with us have been constant visitors for 40 years or more the islanders know what the British and Irish tourist wants. And they deliver.
No wonder 1.6 million of us go there each year.
