Museum closures in Wales

Big PIt at Blaenavon

For those of you thinking of visiting any of those places that make up the National Museum of Wales, be aware that they are closed due to industrial action today – 8th June 2013.
They are;

National Museum Cardiff
St Fagans National History Museum – Cardiff
Big Pit – National Coal Museum, Blaenavon
National Wool Museum – Drefach Felindre in Carmarthenshire
National Roman Legion Museum – Caerleon, Newport
National Slate Museum – Llanberis,
National Waterfront Museum – Swansea

The one-day closures are beacuse of strike action over pay, conditions and possible redundancies as the National Museum seeks savings of over £2 million. This means also that future closures could happen.
All seven museums will be open as normal on Sunday 9th June and thereafter – at least until the next strike is announced.
