Al Fresco Holidays has extended the deadline of their Young Travel Writer competition so children now have until 15 April, to work on their entries and be in with the chance of winning a family holiday of a lifetime.

The competition encourages children to use their imagination and write a story about a fantastic journey to be in with the chance of winning a family holiday of a lifetime.

To be in with a chance of winning, budding writers should submit a story no longer than 500 words about a journey, whether real or imaginary. Al Fresco hopes the task will give children free reign to write about how they travel, who they travel with and where they go, stretching the limits of their imagination to create a truly unique and exciting story.

The top three entries will be judged by author Jeremy Strong, for the chance to win an all-expenses paid family holiday of lifetime to an Al Fresco parc (Al Fresco Holidays has parcs in France, Spain, Holland, Croatia, Italy and Austria), with two runners up winning a Kindle each.

For more information and how to enter, check out the Al Fresco Holidays blog: or email For Jeremy’s short story, ‘Joe’s Unusual Journey’, and for his full top tips visit The competition closes on 15 April and the prize holiday will include travel to and from the parc.
