Forget recent tales of drug-stuffed lollipops, dead caterpillars and illegal cigarettes, a new poll reveals that we are a nation of squeaky-clean, law-abiding travellers when it comes to passing through airport security.

Eighty-two per cent of UK travellers have never had anything confiscated from their hand-luggage and 94 per cent say they have never smuggled anything through security by mistake.
