Cuba comes calling

By | Category: Travel news

All countries try and woo the travel trade so that they encourage their clients to visit . Cuba is no exceptiion but this year they have moved their tourism show to a place that Britons may not know – Cay Santa Maria . But you will when the travel trade returns in May.
The FitCuba Trade Show is a very important event in the Cuban calendar. This
year it’s moving from Havana to the beautiful Cay Santa Maria area, and will
be held from the 8th-11th May. The Guest Nation is Argentina. Travel
Agencies, Tourist operators, hotels, restaurants, and many others (including
the man who is in the Guinness Book of Records for rolling the world’s
longest cigar!) will be there. The show is very important for Cuba’s Tourist
Industry, to promote the island as a Tourist Destination.
Approximately 300Kms from Havana, Cay Santa Maria, which is in the North of
Villa Clara Province, is known as Cuba’s youngest destination. It’s in the
centre part of the island, on the Atlantic Coast.
An award-winning 48KM causeway with 46 bridges links it to the mainland.
Cay Santa Maria is a World Biosphere Reserve, and a Tropical Paradise, with
over 17KMs of white sandy beaches (one of the 25 most beautiful beaches in
the world) 248 plant species, many kinds of birds, and coral reefs in the
crystal-clear sea.
The whole Province, and the surrounding Provinces, are wildlife havens.
Forests, waterfalls and rivers stretch for miles with totally unspoilt
views.
There are many guided walks of varied lengths and difficulty, with something
suitable for almost everyone.
We´ll tell you m,ore about this region later in May.
