Unusual tours

By | Category: Travel rumblings

Read this month’s ‘What’s hot’ feature? Then you’ll know that Croydon – one of the areas worst hit during the London riots last year – has become an unlikely tourism hotspot. We kid you not… Croydon Tours has launched a £8 per person day trip that takes travellers to famous spots from Peep Show (the Croydon based sitcom) and ends at, erm, a multi storey car park.

But unusual tours aren’t consigned only to Croydon. Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company has added extra dates to its £15 coach tour of the 117 mile M25 due to “huge demand.”

Here at CD-Traveller towers, we can’t imagine anything worse than spending fours sitting on the M25 – famous for being one long traffic jam. However Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach company spokesman, Roger French, says that the motorway – home to sights such as Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5, Epping Forest, Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex and the  Dartford River Crossing bridge – is “absolutely fascinating.”

Given that the tour has sold out, it clearly appeals to many people – if not the CD-Traveller team. We want to know what you make of the oddball tours. Will they have you flocking to Croydon and co? Or are you yet to be convinced that the M25 is little more than one insane traffic jam and the birthplace of supermodel Kate Moss is anything other than a dodgy south London borough?
