The Great Wales

A Welsh village is hoping to woo cash rich Chinese tourists by building a £50 million purpose built holiday resort, where signs will be in Mandarin and staff will be familiar with Chinese customs.

However the plans for Llanfynydd, Carmarthenshire are facing fierce opposition from locals – who question how they will benefit. But as bizarre as the idea may seem, here at CD-Traveller towers we reckon the Welsh Tourism board might just be onto a winner.

The Chinese are travelling in record numbers. Case in point? Last year, Chinese visitors to Britain spent £184 million – representing an increase of 40 percent on five years ago. Yet while Chinese are travelling to England and Scotland in their droves, few think of visiting Wales.

A purpose built luxury holiday village could be the answer – and in the process provide much needed employment for local people.
