Caribbean Christmas in Leeds

Leeds is in the Caribbean?

This weekend sees some of the Christmas markets beginning. They have become very big in the last few years and, as many of you will know, the largest outside Germany is held in Birmingham. Cathrene, on the Events desk, has been gathering them together and we were all surprised to find that there are now over 500 festive events for you to think about visiting. Most revel in hot alcoholic drinks to ward off the cold; hot snacks to do the same and craft items
Well in Leeds, it’s a bit different.
Welcome to the Leeds Caribbean Christmas Fair which is being held in the Northern Ballet on Quarry Hill next weekend.
Instead of chestnuts and hotdogs how about jerk chicken? Or hot beef patties? Instead of Christmas cake with brandy or whisky, how about one with rum? How about steel drums and hot punch instead of glug? Santa still comes but probably won’t enter the limbo dance but you can.
And for those who prefer the more traditional markets, have a scroll through our events list.
