This weekend, has seen people up and down the countrystrip down to their shorts and T-shirts, to soak up the unseasonal sun.
That the sun is shining so fiercely in October (the Met Office says Saturday’s temperature reached 29.9 C at Gravesend) is an extraordinary but welcome occurrence, coming as it does after a damp squib of a summer. Britain might, as the politicians keep telling us, be broken but when the sun has got its hat on, there’s nowhere else we’d rather be.
