Embark on a culinary tour of South America

You don’t have to leave London to enjoy the authentic taste of South America this autumn: Cookbook Café at the five-star InterContinental London Park Lane is hosting a series of public gourmet food festivals celebrating the soul of South American cuisine, so that gastronomic adventurers can experience the exotic taste of Colombia and Peru by simply heading to Park Lane.

The Colombia Gourmet Festival – now in its third year – runs until October 3; expect mouth-watering menus that explore and evoke the style and flavours of many culinary traditions across Colombia and her regions, from the event’s dedicated chefs, some of whom are visiting from the InterContinental Medellín in Colombia.

Then, from October 17-23, all eyes will be on the Peru Gourmet Festival. The inaugural Peruvian Gourmet Food Festival will be a riot of authentic flavours, traditional music and plenty of Pisco Sours. The festival’s guest chef is Peruvian Chef Virgilio Martinez, a name foodies are sure to become familiar with in 2012, when he makes his London restaurant debut in Shoreditch. The Peru Gourmet Food Festival will take diners on a journey though the culinary history of Peru demonstrating how the region’s cuisine evolved through the blending of East and West – Spain in stews and soups, Arab sweets and desserts as well as African contributions to Creole cooking.
