Visiting Valencia

By | Category: Travel destinations

Spain has been the bounceback destination for British tourists this year. As long ago as January, the tourism minister for the Valencia region, Belem Juste, said that British visitor number would be up this year. To make sure, the region has announced a worldwide, £4.4 million campaign to entice us there.
The region is more than just the city of Valencia even though this coming weekend, many will only think of it as the destination of the European grand prix. Mention Alicante, Costa Blanca and Benidorm to Britons and Irish and huge numbers will know the area. (see the earlier story in CD-Traveller on Benidorm.
This new campaign will last two years and covers all sorts of promotion under the slogan, “Intense Experiences must be Shared.” You’ll hear about Valencia region in newspapers and in your travel agents and there will be road shows, two of which will go to Liverpool (late November) and Birmingham. As with all campaigns these days there will be a heavy online part so expect to see details on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter amongst others as people put so much trust into comments and pictures or videos from other holidaymakers.
The promotion began last week with the launch of the new, high-speed train service from Madrid to Valencia which was used to showcase all the benefits of the region. Whilst many will think of the beaches, the region is anxious to point out the golfing, the mountains, the eight national parks the city breaks and the traditional heritage of the area as well.
