British Travel Awards 2010

British Travel Awards 2010

You will remember that in September we urged you to vote in the British Travel Awards.
Why?
Because is the one of the few opportunities that we, as visitors, have of letting the travel trade know what we think is best. Well last night at the Battersea Evolution in London the winners were announced. But in many ways the important thing was the number of you that took the trouble to vote. Over 200,000 of you. That sends a message to the industry that you have strong views on who you think provides the best service. So thanks to all of you from CD-Traveller and the organisers of the Academy for voting.
So who won?
In no particular order, the Best Domestic Tour Operator was Butlins and the Airline of the Year was Virgin Atlantic. The Best Small Travel Retailer was Virgin Holidays and they were also large Package Holiday Company of the Year. The winner of the Small Package Holiday Company of the Year was Premier Holidays. Car Hire Company of the Year was Hertz and Manchester was UK Airport of the Year. Co-op Travel was judged National Travel Retailer of the Year and Royal Caribbean was Cruise Line of the Year. Premier Inn was Hotel Chain of the Year.
New York was the Best City Break Destination and the Greek islands were the Best Beach Holiday Destination. The Best UK Holiday Regional was Cornwall and St Ives won Best UK Seaside Town. Alton Towers was judged Best UK Theme Park and Best UK Day Out Experience. London Eye got the award for the Heritage/Leisure Attraction. Visit Britain won Best National Tourist Board, “Coast” was judged the Best Travel Information Programme and Lonely Planet was voted by you as the Best Travel Information Publication. TripAdvisor was the Best Travel Information Website.
All of the winners can be seen at www.britishtravelawards.com/anw_aw.php. But there are more to come. Which of you who voted won in the draw for cruise holidays, weekend breaks and holidays? Those results will be announced later. You still have time to enter for those by completely the survey on your holiday plans which you can find at www.britishtravelawards.com/vf_rl.php. We’ll let you know the winners when they are announced.
One again, thanks to all of you who voted.
